Project Towards No Tobacco Use (Project TNT) is a classroom-based curriculum that aims to prevent and reduce tobacco use by students in grades 5-9. TNT is designed to counteract multiple causes of tobacco use. It is designed on the theory that youth will be better able to resist tobacco use if they are aware of misleading information that promotes tobacco use.
Project TNT is comprised of 10 core lessons, taught weekly for 40-50 minutes and using games, role-play, and group discussion to involve students in learning. A pre-test is given to establish students’ prior knowledge and attitudes, and a post-test is administered after completion of the program to assess changes.
